How will I be charged? We charge by the day. Charges start on the day you check-in, regardless of time - there is no check-in time. On the day you check out, if you check-out before 12:00 PM (noon), you are NOT charged for that day. Any pets in the facility after 12:00 PM will incur a charge for that day. On the weekends and holidays, the same policy applies. This means pets checked out on Saturday are automatically NOT charged (since we close at 12:00) and pets checked out on Sunday are automatically charged (since we're open 2pm to 6pm only).

Required Vaccinations: DHPP, Rabies, and Bordatella (canine cough) H3N8 & H3N2 Canine Influenza (two boosters) we defer to your vet's judgment on vaccine durations
All vaccines must be current at least 14 days before arrival at J-Canine.
All new-to-you dogs must have been in your home and healthy for 30 days prior to boarding. This includes found strays, foster dogs, puppies from breeders or friends, and recent adoptees from shelters, private rescues, and individuals. In addition, all adult dogs with an unknown vaccine history will need proof of two Distemper/Parvo vaccines prior to boarding with us. Dogs under a year of age must be able to supply proof of three Distemper/Parvo vaccines, with at least two given by a veterinarian. We require vaccines be updated at least 14 days prior to your arrival date for boarding. Call us with any questions!
Playtime and Pampering Indulge your pet in special pampering with our Playtime and Pampering program. This can include an extra romp in our outdoor yard, complete with your pet's favorite fetch toy, a splash session with a kiddie pool and the water hose, or fun group play in our indoor training room (approved dogs only). All additional playtime and pampering is only $10 for 10 minutes and is available up to three times a day. Your second dog (if playing together) is only $5.00. Group Daycare with boarding is $22/day for dogs who are already approved. We also offer homemade Kongsicle treats - these are Kong toys stuffed with our mixture daily. They are $8 and given as a mid-day activity.
Bathing and Grooming
We'd be happy to bathe and/or groom your dogs while they stay here or right before they go home. Generally, a go-home bath will cost:
These prices include a bath, blow-dry, nail trim, and ear cleaning; however, additional fees may apply based on size, coat condition, and behavior. We can also groom your dog before he goes home - call for a price quote for your breed and see the grooming page for different package options including our very popular de-shed option!
So what do you need to do? If you've never been here before, please start by filling out our online New Client Application. You may have more questions or want a tour of our facility. Tours are given Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from either 10:30 am to Noon or from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. If you have any questions or concerns not answered here, please feel free to call or email and ask us!
J-Canine is a Force-Free Facility!! This means we do not advocate the use of aversive methods or equipment to help manage your dog’s behavior, or train with the use of electronic collars, prong / pinch collars, or choke chain collars. We respectfully request that you leave these types of equipment at home and bring your dog on a plain collar, head halter, or front-clip harness. We also invite you to participate in “force-free” methods by enlisting the help of our Certified Trainer for pain-free solutions.
--For your pet's food, you can either bring your own, or allow us to feed our house food. We feed Fromm dog foods, which are complete and balanced food with top quality protein sources and whole grains that most dogs love and do very well on during their stay (and you can buy it here, too, if you'd like to continue feeding it at home!). If you bring your own food, please bring it in either a gallon baggie or bagged into individual meals. Please leave the big bags of food and any Tupperware containers at home. Try not to bring much more than what your dog will need for his stay.
--We recommend that you bring any medications that your dog may be on. Please bring all medications in their original container - this applies to prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and supplements. We don't charge for giving most medications, but a small fee may apply for injections or doses given in off hours. The fee may vary based on the type and number of medications. Also, don't hesitate to ask us to apply flea or heartworm preventative if they're due during their stay - we'll make sure they don't miss a day!
For bedding, each guest will be supplied with a comfortable raised Kuranda bed with a blanket. We also have some thicker and fuzzier beds for our guests that need them. Because of our cleaning and sanitation procedures, we ask that you leave your big fluffy beds at home. We promise your dog will have somewhere comfortable to sleep! Some dogs enjoy a t-shirt of yours or a towel that smells like home, though!
--You are allowed to bring toys to keep with your dog; however, we ask that you not bring rope bones or rawhide bones as they can be ingested. We carry some great all-natural bones that the dogs really enjoy and will keep them busy, if you'd like them to have something to chew on. Also, please keep in mind that while we will do our best to ensure your pet's items are not lost or damaged, we are not responsible for any items left with your pet. Please try to limit toys and bones to a total of three (3).
--Please read our Hurricane & Emergency policy here. You can submit and/or update your emergency contact info on this page as well.
--All pets will be checked for fleas upon check-in, and will be treated at the owner's expense immediately (ranging from a Capstar pill to a flea bath).
--Female dogs who are in heat, or who come into heat during their stay, must be housed in an indoor luxury suite, for their safety and at the owner's expense.
--Check out time is 12:00 pm, after which you are charged for that day. You are welcome to pick up in the afternoon, but will be charged for that day.
